Description

The skating map of Båven, Marvikarna and Yngern includes the best skating waters in Sörmland.

The skating map focuses on the needs of the skater. Ice is at the center to facilitate the planning and execution of a skating trip. Icing is represented by areas colored and numbered according to the order of normal freezing. Ice assessment is made easier by ruts, marked currents, shipping channels and other ice warnings. The trip is made easier with recommended starting points, parking areas, land crossings and sometimes navigable waterways.

The skating map is developed in close collaboration with Mårten Ajne, one of Sweden s most experienced and knowledgeable skaters who, among other things, is the author of the reference book Stora boken om longfärdsskridsko. More than fifty years of ice and weather data have been combined with the collective experience of skating clubs.

In the book Skrinnarens guide till sjöarna i Östra Svealand, an in-depth understanding is given of how knowledge of the different ice-laying zones can be used when planning and carrying out skating trips in the area.

We have come to the conclusion that the best material for a card is Tyvek®. It is made of a synthetic fiber that makes the card completely impervious to water and very tear-resistant. A Tyvek card does not tear in the folds and does not lose color when you use it.
